The metal shop is open in its new location. I’ve cleared the Skedda block; more details to follow.
The shop is mostly functional but there are a lot of details to attend to.
First, the two central general purpose tables are not quite ready. We are painting and coating a lot of the furniture, not just for appearance but to protect it from fluids and metal dust. Those tables have been painted but not coated; that will be done today, and they will be usable about 24 hours after that. Please avoid using those tables until late tomorrow.
When that is done, the two red steel scrap bins should be moved under these tables (one each).
The other key thing for users to note now is a potential trip hazard. The cold saw will eventually be bolted to the floor again, but we didn’t want to limit our options for adjusting the layout yet, so it is instead bolted to a double sheet of OSB. Because the cold saw was most often moved around by users adjusting the vise, this sheet extends into the workspace, which is also a secondary walkway space. Just keep an eye out for the edge of that sheet when moving in or through that area.
Thank, you Ethan
