We have a new drill press vise and mount, thanks to @atwatsoniii !
It features four magnetic clamps instead of two for better hold down strength than the previous version, with new knobs on the clamps as well.
And the key point is that this new vise is actually whole. I may post a separate rant about the condition of the old vise, but I implore all metal shop users to set up their drilling carefully. Please don’t destroy this vise by drilling into it like the old one was. There is a large central clearance area on the vise where you can make through holes without damaging the vise.
In addition, @Julie is working on another specialty tee-nut for the second vise-grip style clamp. We currently have one that is usable for the drill press, but sometimes you need two, which we will have soon. But using care in setting up your drilling is even more important with them, because you will be cutting into the drill press table itself if you make a mistake!
Which is a good time to remind everyone that one of the few acceptable uses for wood in the metal shop is for spoil pieces on the drill press to prevent damage to the clamps and table.
Again, kudos to Al and Julie for their work; these took considerable time and effort.
