New Class Offering - Woodworking: Make a Toolbox

Step confidently into the woodshop with this beginner-friendly, hands-on workshop focused on building both foundational skills and a sturdy wooden toolbox. Designed for first-time woodworkers or those looking to refresh their fundamentals, this class provides a supportive, structured introduction to working safely and effectively in the shop.

Students will construct a functional toolbox while learning to use three cornerstone woodworking tools: the miter saw, cordless drill, and impact driver. Along the way, participants will practice measuring, cutting, assembly, and basic finishing techniques, essential skills that translate directly to a wide range of future woodworking projects. By the end of class, each student will leave with a completed toolbox and increased confidence working with common shop tools.

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Design and plan a simple toolbox layout
  • Safely operate a miter saw and cordless drill/driver
  • Measure and mark accurately for cuts and fasteners
  • Assemble components using screws and wood glue
  • Apply basic finishing techniques for durability and aesthetic
