I’m excited to announce our newest class offering: Leatherworking - Make a Bracer! @NickE is incredibly skilled, and will be showing off cool ways to combine traditional leatherworking with laser cutter tech.

Leatherworking: Make a Bracer
Course Description
In this class, students will learn how to make their own piece of leather armor utilizing various leatherworking skills. They will also learn the basics of cutting and etching designs on our Ruida controlled lasers, Students will be taught each step by an instructor, then make a personalized first project. When the class is complete, students will leave with their project and knowledge of two of Asmbly’s fantastic workshops.
After completing this course students should be able to:
- Hand saddle stitch veg tanned leather.
- Understand the various tools & jargon used throughout the leatherworking process.
- Understand the different types of leather.
- Pick the correct leather for a project.
- Understand the basics of laser-cutter hardware & processes.
- Understand laser uses such as cutting, etching, and scoring
- Be aware of general, and Asmbly-specific safety guidelines
- Have a general understanding of how/why one would use a laser while creating art in other spaces.
