New Class Offering - Fusion 360 for 3D Printing: Beginner Techniques

This introductory course is designed for beginner users looking to explore 3D modeling with Autodesk Fusion (AKA Fusion 360), with an emphasis on creating models optimized for 3D printing. Participants will learn the fundamentals of sketching, parametric design, and solid modeling, along with best practices for designing printable parts. By the end of the course, students will have the skills and confidence to create, modify, and export 3D models suitable for slicing and fabrication on FDM and SLA/DLP printers.

The class includes a guided project where you will learn to design and 3D print your own custom nametag.

After completing this course students will be able to:

  • Navigate the Fusion interface confidently
  • Create and constrain 2D sketches
  • Generate solid 3D bodies using basic modeling tools
  • Apply design features optimized for 3D printing (e.g., chamfers, fillets, tolerances)
  • Use parametric modeling to build flexible designs
  • Import models for reference or modification
  • Export models in STL format for slicing and printing
