Transform a “high carbon” railroad spike into a sharp, rugged camp knife in this hands-on forging workshop. Spend 70–80% of your time at the anvil, hammering, shaping, and refining the blade, with the final touches completed on a 2"x72" belt grinder.
In this six hour class, you’ll learn essential blacksmithing techniques such as:
Fullering – creating grooves to shape and lighten the blade
Drawing out – lengthening the steel into a proper knife profile
Twisting – adding a custom spiral or twist to your handle for grip and style
This class will meet in the back parking lot for the forging portion, and finish inside the metalshop.
