Expand your woodturning skills with this guided vase-turning class! Designed for students with prior wood lathe experience (or those who have completed our introductory woodturning classes) this session will help you refine your technique and take on a more advanced project.
You’ll learn essential skills such as spindle turning between centers, creating a tenon, finishing, boring, and tasteful tenon removal.
Materials:
- A face mask for sanding.
- Wood will be provided, but students are welcome to bring their own domestic hardwood, sized between 2.5” x 2.5” x 8” and 3” x 3” x 10”.

After completing this class students should be able to:
- Properly mount material to the lathe, first between centers then after forming a tenon remount that tenon in a chuck
- Shape the outside of the vase
- Drill / bore the inside using a forstner bit and gouge
- Sand and apply finish
- Remove a tenon with a Jam Chuck
