I’m moving out of Austin soon and need to get rid of some stuff. Some of this is maker supply stuff, others just random things, but I figured I’d give yall first dibs on some good deals. Feel free to DM or comment on the thread to claim stuff, and we can arrange for me to bring it to the shop or whatever.
I’m moving to Boston, so would love recs on anything but especially if someone has a makerspace up there they like! I’m really gonna miss ASMBLY and everyone here

Dang dude sad to see you go. @mrflip and Kye lives outside Boston now so they would definitely know the makerspace scene. I’ve been wanting to check out there myself.

you will be sorely missed @gordoa40! Artisan’s Asylum is one of the best makerspaces in the country as I understand it, so if you’ll be close enough to that one to join there you will have a very happy new maker home. I still have yet to go to Boston, so I will definitely be hitting you up when I get around to making a trip over there. If you end up at Artisan’s Asylum, I’ll ask you for a tour
I lived in (greater) Boston for ten years. Good luck; have fun. If you’re not familiar with the area Somerville will feel the most like Austin and the makerspace Valerie mentioned is in Allston, my favorite neighborhood for live music (O’brien’s, Great Scott, The Paradise)
Make sure you eat at Life Alive, El Pelon, and Grasshopper.

@valerie Artisans Asylum is the one I was looking at! I think we’ll be fairly close to it, but I’ll have to figure out how to go about material/project transport, not sure what our car situation is gonna be
It looks great, I’m definitely excited to check it out! I can’t help but feel like it wont hold a candle to ASMBLY though, but I’ll report back! Yes please come visit! That’s half the reason we’re going – every time we’d visit we liked it so much we thought why not try living there haha
@sneezix At least at first we’re gonna be in Boston, probably near Fenway or the South End, but haven’t nailed down a place just yet. I’ll be working in east cambridge, so hopefully I can commute on the train.
If we end up liking it and staying, then maybe we’ll check out the suburbs over time. Somerville seems great, but we’ll have to check out some others too

@Iammikecohen Thanks for the recommendations! I’ll definitely check them out. Austin’s food scene is great, but I’m excited for a whole new slate of restaurants and venues too.
I’ll bring it to the space sometime soon (maybe over the weekend) along with everything else people claimed so everyone can come at their leisure and I don’t have to arrange 10 different meetups if that works for you!
