Tormach on the move today!

Impressive work – I was wondering how that (and the bandsaw) were going to get moved.

Thanks to everyone involved in moving the Tormach today, especially James who led the charge.

Before they could do that, they had to finish sealing and testing all the compressed air lines. This turned out to be a much more difficult task than anticipated; we didn’t fully understand how a new type of pipe and fittings worked at first.

Many people have contributed in the past few days; I’ll post more details and photos shortly.

We are nearly done with the infrastructure of the new space, and we will turn to preparing many support pieces, then conducting the move itself. We will post whenever we can use help.

Woodworkers who can read and work from Sketchup files can definitely aid us sometime soon.

Props to everyone on the team moving and cleaning that Tormach, that was smooth without a single scary incident. This weekend has been a wonderful blend of collaborative skill sharing and pizza.

@mgmoore will be in the metal shop Thursday-Sunday, but Saturday will be the day we move the bulk of the remaining equipment over. If you’ve been meaning to get involved, this is the time! Lots of cleaning, organizing and painting to do as well! Link below with more details. Metal Shop Move - Thursday through Sunday, but mainly SATURDAY!

We’ll be starting parts of the move tonight, mainly the welding areas.

And I have a whole bunch of things that need painting, a simple task anyone can do but very necessary.

The new metal shop now has a functional sink, plus a functional eyewash! There may still be some small leaks to chase down, but we’ve got it mostly watertight. And to my surprise and delight, the crazy “pump the drain water up and across the woodshop ceiling” plan worked immediately.

The sink is large, with hot and cold water and an additional (cold) garden hose faucet. The soap and paper towel dispensers are installed, along with a mirror.

Many thanks to @jamesfreeman, who made several key parts of this happen.

Move preparations continue tomorrow night!
