This coming Monday, April 13th, from 10 am til 12 noon (I will be there earlier if you’re free) we will be having a mini wood shop work day. We will be cleaning and performing maintenance on the machines. You do not need prior experience, we will teach you.
We will also do some planning for a full day of wood shop improvements at the end of the month (most likely on a Saturday). We will be making an announcement on this as soon as we can.
First, we are building another storage rack for both sheet goods and vertical storage–no more leaning lumber against the walls!!!
Second, we are building and completely revamping the tool wall. Our goal is to have a dedicated spot for every tool. We need your help with both these projects and want your input on design, and the actual construction of the tool wall and tool holders.
John and I look forward to seeing you on Monday and working alongside you.
We a had brilliant mini work day and got a ton of work done.
David Moore cleaned and waxed all the cast iron along with some other tasks.
Steve @LivingOnTheEdgeKupec completely deep cleaned and greased both SawStops and tutored David on how to mark off maintenance tasks on Slack.
Tony @tonyjrice deep cleaned the bandsaws and wide belt sander. Then he went and deep cleaned the small CNC, its desk and surrounding area. I’ve never seen it so clean
Michael @Glory2God tuned up the resaw bandsaw, deep cleaned and changed the filters on the down draft sanding table, changed out the sandpaper on the edge sander, did some general cleaning and organizing.
John @Johnvaughn picked up and delivered the plywood needed to the new sheet goods and vertical storage rack, and the new tool wall.
I invited you all to join us on our next mini work day or anytime you have a free minute to help keep the wood shop running smoothly.
Thank you for sharing the details. Michael! I am thankful and humbled for all of the volunteers that help keep this wood shop running. It’s no easy task.
