We will be having our monthly mini wood shop workday this coming Monday, June 8th from 10 AM to Noon.
We will be doing cleaning, equipment maintenance and repairs, and general shop upkeep. This can only happen with our fantastic member volunteers–both official and unofficial.
There is no experience required, just a willing heart and desire to keep Asmbly in tip top shape. If this sounds like you, please join us on Monday morning!
Thank you one and all,
Michael Doto
Wood Shop Lead
First, a huge thank you to Steve @LivingOnTheEdgeKupec, Gem @SpaceMonkey, Roy and Romero for volunteering and working so hard in the wood shop! Please thank them when you see them!
We had an amazing morning getting the wood shop sorted out. Steve taught Gem how to deep clean and grease the SawStops! We definitely need a few more a few more volunteers willing to learn how to do this.
All the cast iron was waxed, all saw blades were cleaned–including the bandsaws-- and jointer was given some TLC by adjusting the rollers and removing wet glue streaks across the cast iron.
The bandsaws and the wide belt sander got deep cleaned, the shop vacs emptied and cleaned out, the downdraft got cleaned and the filters changed, and the miter saw vacuum hose got reattached. Trash cans got emptied, the shop sink was scrubbed clean enough to drink from, the wood shop bathroom was deep cleaned, and lots of just general cleaning got done.
The woodshop gets a ton of usage!!! Every little bit of this is vital to keeping the space clean and running well. We regularly get complimented by visitors of vendors to workshops and folks who’ve visited or been a part of other workspaces.
Volunteer efforts like this make all the difference.
