Somewhat short notice, as I forgot to post about it (though it does get announced on our regular calendars): there’s a metal shop volunteer day today at 12:30 pm.
@SavHarvey and I don’t have a ton of pressing items, but I will start with some maintenance of the table of the large mill, and I can talk about other maintenance that comes up with that machine. Otherwise we have some of the usual deep cleaning tasks to address.
The big achievement today was that Jon Staton and I completely emptied and cleaned the Tormach cutting fluid reservoir, which hadn’t been done in a geological age or two. Seriously, it had probably been years. Fortunately, the Fusion Cool doesn’t encourage biological growth like the other fluid does, but it was still pretty awful. With that, all of the cutting fluid reservoirs have been cleaned out recently. We will get on a schedule of cleaning one out at every workday, which should keep any of them from getting too terrible again.
In addition to working with me on that, Jon had already assembled two items for the shop last week, and he will be working with me on the final setup of the Laser Welder next week.
In addition, @Julie cleaned the lathe ways, and Savanna fixed the broken ceramics stool in addition to cleaning and organizing the welding area.
