Metal Prep for Sandblasting

Hi everyone!

What are the rules around material prep before using the abrasive (sand) blaster? I have a bunch of metal suspension parts I’d like to blast.

They have been in a chemical stripper for a few days to remove any wax. Some of the parts still have residual paint on them - especially the primer which seems to be tough.

Do I need to remove existing paint before using the abrasive blaster?

PS: Apologies if this is a stupid question, I posted in the wrong place, or I did something else wrong! It’s my first post on Discourse, so please be kind :blossom:

It is fine. As long as the paint does not have lead. The abrasive blaster has a vortex separator that will remove some of the paint particles from the abrasive

Thanks, Joe. I wanted to make sure that was ok. I’ve been taking off the paint with a wire wheel but it would be a lot easier to blast it.
