Making the Most of Asmbly’s Computer Resources

Hello Asmbly makers,

I hope everyone is getting great use out of the tools and facilities we provide in the shop. As part of your membership benefits, you have access to the computers in Asmbly and all the software installed on them—completely free. We have general public licenses available for all members to use while in the shop. Programs like VCarve, Fusion 360, Sawgrass, and Adobe Creative Cloud should be available for your use. (Fun fact: your monthly membership may cost about the same as just one of the many software licenses we renew here each month!)

As your Systems Lead, I want to ensure that everyone can fully take advantage of these resources and that all computers remain in good working order. Occasionally, software accounts may sign out automatically and require an admin to restore public access. If you encounter a computer that isn’t automatically signed in to the software you need, please try restarting it to see if the general public credentials reload. If they’re still missing after a reboot, report the issue using the red QR code or at Problem Report . Likewise, if anything needs to be updated, or a computer isn’t turning on or functioning properly, please submit a report so I can address it promptly.

Additionally, please do not disconnect anything from these computers—keyboards, mice, HDMI cables, or other peripherals. Removing them makes it difficult for other members to reconnect equipment correctly. If you have general questions about the computers in the shop, feel free to ask here. For more specific questions or suggestions, you can reach out at it@asmbly.org.

With all that said, I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season! :christmas_tree::sparkler:

Best, Natanael Fernandez Monroy :green_heart::green_heart:
