Have any of you ever successfully picked up a thing using a telescoping or memory wire magnetic pickup tool, or the one with claw fingers? I’ve had a lot of frustrating “fun” almost picking up a thing when I worked on cars more, but no recollection of heroic retrieval. Magnets are much stronger these days — should I upgrade/modify to n52, or toss it from the tool collection?
I have better luck using the variety that has claws and no magnet. The big issue with the magnetic and combo varieties is that the part you are trying to retrieve is never the only steel object in the vicinity.
So I wouldn’t consider your potential n52 mod an upgrade, it’ll just increase the frustration.
