Limited Time Free Demonstration Class - Sanders: Basics and Best Practices

Thank you @JOSEGAYTAN for offering to walk through a free demonstration of sander techniques!

Please note: This is not a hands-on class, and does not certify the use of the stationary sanding equipment.

This short, demonstration-style class introduces the safe and effective use of common abrasive machines found in the woodshop. Designed to build shared knowledge and improve day-to-day shop practices, the session focuses on practical tips, correct operation, and how to recognize when a machine isn’t running as it should.

Machines covered include orbital sanders, belt/disc sander, spindle sander, drum sander, and the wide belt sander. While this is not a hands-on checkout class, participants will observe each machine in use, learn proper setup and technique, and discuss common mistakes, wear signs, and basic troubleshooting cues. These free classes are offered with the understanding that participants will help support the shop community by sharing best practices and gently correcting unsafe or improper use when they see it.

There will be two sessions, one on 1/11 in the morning, and one on 1/14 in the evening. Register here:

1/11/26 10am to 11:30am

1/14/26 6:00pm to 7:30pm
