Leaded Solder Tools?

I had a permanently-soldered wire break in my kitchen stereo while I was trying to fix it, and I’m not sure whether the solder they used to make the original joint contains lead. Does the Asmbly electronics lab have any kind of “dirty” iron that can be used with potentially leaded solder? Are there any special ventilation/waste disposal requirements for that?

Thanks!

Your consideration is really nice, but don’t worry about it.

I know that I have used the soldering irons on various leaded solders. Besides, it’s not like we’d be able to pass a “Pb-free” audit on any level …

There are no particular disposal issues unles you’re getting rid of something like a half-pound of solder balls (which are like glitter but on steroids) or a vat of solder (which, honestly, would be a disposal issue even if Pb-free–“No Lead” doesn’t mean “Non-toxic”).
