Lathe folks after tonight should have a very pleasant experience using all lathes, tool rests, and tail stocks.
All beds and sliding parts (not the locks) have been waxed lubricated.
I’ll have this item on my to-do list every two weeks. If anyone wants to help earn an extra volunteer hour, let me know and I’ll help get you set up!
Why wax?
- Helps keep surfaces smooth and helps tool slides glide rather than sticking and needing to be pushed.
- Prevents dust build-up (note it doesn’t make surfaces immune to dust, so folks still need to wipe and vacuum after usage)
- Rust Prevention
- Keeps moving parts (like tail stock) working well
