Laguna Swift CNC Puck Repaired

I don’t know if a problem report was written on this, but this morning when I came in to use the CNC the puck’s cord was pulled out of the puck. So I repaired it by stripping the wires, soldering them together, crimping a new end and reassembling it. I did nothing to smooth the puck’s surface of its dings and pock-marks.

James Freeman gave me a new beautifully smooth puck to replace the current dinged-up one, which he said he can resurface as a future re-replacement. So as soon as I get time I’ll install it and adjust the Toolset settings in the Laguna Swift B58E controller to the new one’s height of 14.67 mm.

Kevin V. is currently the CNC and the puck cord pulled out again. Can you have another go at Bri?

What??? Really!!! I really tried to make it a stronger connection. Argh. It’s 2 PM and I’ll leave shortly to come and fix it again.

P.S. I repaired the puck to the best of my ability. The wires were still in the connector so that was good. Somehow the connector pulled out of the puck so all I had to do was loosen the set screw, insert the connector, and tighten the set screw. I noticed that the set screw might be too short. So I’m in the process of buy some longer ones and will replace it when they arrive.

I changed the set screw, which is holding the wire connector in the puck, from a 5mm one to a longer 8mm one and tightened it down.
