Small quality of life improvements can cumulatively make a big difference in your shop experience. Several people have recently stepped up of their own accord and made small improvements to our shop’s machines.
First, @dannym noted that the foam I had stuck on the corners of the DoAll table a couple years ago to protect people wasn’t really sufficient for the saw’s new location. So he designed and 3D printed these bumpers. They’re bright orange for visibility, and nicely rounded so you won’t injure yourself if you run into those corners.
Next,@atwatsoniii saw that you couldn’t use the stop on the cold saw on thin pieces. So he made this end-piece for the stop that will work on a much wider array of sizes.
Also, @Julie finished the tee-nut project I mentioned before; we now have two of the vise-grip style clamps to hold things down securely on the drill press.
And not to be outdone by my own stewards, I finished this support for blow gun on the large mill. Now it has a proper, accessible place instead of lying around wherever it had been left.
These upgrades were a non-trivial investment of thought and time. Community efforts like this are what turn a good shop into a great shop. Thanks again to these people and everyone else who has contributed their efforts to shop improvements.
