:ceramics: Kiln Operators :ceramics:

:ceramics: The Kilns (Athena&Vulcan) have been firing for almost 1 month now, and things are going to continue to ramp up more and more!

:ceramics: You may have seen some familiar and new faces around the Ceramics studio as the loading and unloading of the kilns is happening, and these are our kiln Operators!

:ceramics: @SethWhite (Lead Kiln Operator): He brings years of experience in firing many types of kilns and firings: reduction, oxidation, raku, and more. He is also a great technical hand builder and teacher for Asmbly. As Lead Kiln Operator he is in charge of scheduling and making sure things run smoothy, so feel free to ask him any questions.

:ceramics: @PerlaAyora (Main Kiln Operator): Perla was already a member at Asmbly utilizing the 3D printers for various projects, and she jumped right in to help out in getting the Ceramics studio set up. She brings experience in traditional Oaxcan pottery and has helped with kiln productions and processes.

:ceramics: Richie (Watcher/Kiln Operator): Richie first came to Asmbly during the Ceramics Grand Opening party and they were excited and willing to jump right in to help out. They went through the Asmbly volunteer onboarding and very quickly became a Ceramic Steward. He brings kiln loading and unloading experience and is one of our Watchers, a Kiln Operator watching to make sure the kilns turn off at the right times. So you may see him pop in and out.

:ceramics: @Chase (Watcher/Kiln Operator): Our final Watcher/Kiln Operator is Chase. He also came to Asmbly for the first time during the Ceramics Grand Opening, quickly got a membership and started making stuff in the studio almost daily. He began Ceramics to relax from his hectic job of running several businesses back to back. He brings a good work ethic and head for systems to the team.

From L to R: Seth, Richie, Perla

Chase

:ceramics: They have all brought a variety of skills and experience to the team and jumped right in to the excitement of getting to run a kiln for it’s very first firing. This meant assisting with all of the prep work (shelves, calibrations, set up) that was required before you could even hit start on a firing.

:ceramics: Asmbly has set up a very strong kiln program for its members and students, and I know this is just the beginning of the fun!
