I suppose storing the box with materials for the Mill Class next to the aluminum scrap bin was possibly unwise, though it had lived there for a year and a half without incident. The box was clearly labeled. But several things were missing from it tonight that were in the box two weeks ago. These are example and demonstration pieces that I need to teach the Mill Class.
The first is a large piece of aluminum, roughly cube shaped, about 2.5" per side. I understand how the person who found this in what I am guessing they thought was a scrap area felt like finding a gold mine, but they were in fact claim jumping. This will be both expensive and time consuming to replace.
The second item is a piece of aluminum about 5" square and 1/2" thick, with a “brim” of material around the four short edges next to a face. While this won’t be as hard to replace, it’s still twenty minutes of machining time that I don’t want to redo.
If you haven’t machined or otherwise used these already, return them immediately. (Place them on the table to the right of the door in the Metal Shop Annex.) If you have destroyed them while making something else, I need to know so I can find and make replacements before the next class.
