I’m excited to officially introduce Asmbly’s current Shop Area Leads — the incredible volunteer leaders who dedicate their time and expertise to keep our shop areas running smoothly and safely.
This program started at the beginning of the year and in some ways is still in its early stages, but it’s already helping us distribute responsibilities more evenly across the space. By involving more members in maintaining and overseeing each shop area, we’re building a more sustainable structure that ensures Asmbly can continue growing while spreading the load across a dedicated team.
Without further ado, here are your Shop Area Leads:
-
Metal Shop — Ethan Moore @mgmoore
-
Textiles — Stephannie Behrens @stepho
-
Woodshop — Michael Doto @Glory2God & Steve Wiesenthal @SteveW
-
CNC — James Freeman @jamesfreeman
-
Wood Lathe — Drew Hynes @drew.hynes
-
Lasers — Michael Leonard @michleon100
-
Electronics — John Wickham @JohnWickham
-
3D Printing — Enoch Riese @eriese & Aneel Nazareth @aneel
- Note: Enoch will be stepping down at the end of October. In the meantime, Aneel is training alongside him and will fully take over the role after Enoch’s departure.
This marks the first time that all of our lead positions are filled, and we’re excited to see the new energy and collaboration they will bring to the table. These leads, along with our volunteer directors — myself and Jordan — and the board, form Asmbly’s Leadership Team. Together, we’re committed to ensuring Asmbly continues to thrive as a vibrant, creative, and safe space for all members.
We’re thrilled to continue growing with the help of this dedicated team. If you have any questions about a specific shop area — whether that’s assistance with tools or equipment or you’re looking to lend a hand — please don’t hesitate to reach out to a Shop Area Lead.
Check out the wiki for more information about the Shop Area Leads Program and learn how to get involved to work with them directly to help out through our On-Duty Volunteer Program.
A huge thank you to all our leads for their hard work and commitment to our community. I deeply appreciate each of you stepping up to take ownership of this space. Asmbly would not be what it is without members like you!
