I wanted to make sure I acknowledged my mistake, and I also hope someone might learn from it. I was cutting jellyfish patterns out of Baltic birch when I was struck by the idea of applying some HTV vinyl to the wood before cutting to get a different effect. Well, when I started cutting, I immediately noted that it was smoking worse than usual. That is when I remembered that vinyl is polyvinyl chloride, which should not be cut with the lasers. I stopped the cut and threw away the piece. Please let me know if I caused any damage to the lens; this was due to my stupidity.
