How Will Maker Camp Affect Member Bookings in Shops?

Maker Camp kicks off Tomorrow, June 8th and runs intermittently through August 7th. We wanted to give members a clear picture of how camp will affect the space this summer.

What to expect:

Camp runs weekdays, 8 AM–5 PM, with morning sessions and afternoon sessions.

The vast majority of camp activity takes place in the MPR, with excursions into the Laser and Textiles shops. Renaissance Camp and Board Game Camp work entirely out of those spaces and will have no impact on the woodshop, metal shop, ceramics studio, or electronics lab.

Furniture Fabrication Camp does use the woodshop and metal shop. That camp runs on select weeks only (June 22–26, July 20–24, and August 3–7), and shop use is limited to a few hours per day in the afternoons during those sessions.

Camp weeks at a glance:

Dates Morning Afternoon
June 8–12 Renaissance Board Game
June 22–26 Board Game Furniture Fab
July 6–10 Renaissance Board Game
July 13–17 Board Game Renaissance
July 20–24 Board Game Furniture Fab
July 27–31 Renaissance Renaissance
August 3–7 Board Game Furniture Fab

We’re excited to bring young makers into the space this summer, and we’ve worked to keep the camp footprint as minimal as possible for members. If you have questions or concerns, feel free to reach out!

Hey Adam, will the textiles room be fully booked during the camp hours? or will Skedda be used to show when the room is being used and we can book during open hours?

I’m often in the Textiles room sewing in the afternoons but this first week has both AM and PM camps that use Textiles. Just want to clarify if I should only plan for after 5pm availability or if I can grab a block of time if Skedda shows availability.

Hey Amy, great question! Any time camps will be using a space, we will be booked in Skedda. We will only be using the textiles room for the specificly booked out times.
