Howdy, I’m new to laser cutting and took the class but I forgot how to set the laser to engrave and not cut. I only remember how to set it to vector so that it cuts but when I try to engrave some letters, I couldn’t figure out how to get the laser to go back and forth and fill in the letters. How do I switch it?
If you’re using lightburn, once you pick a color, in the middle of the line, you’re going to have a square that defaults to “line.” Click on it, and you’ll have three options. One of them is the fill option. In Tarkin in the library folder, there are six different depths under the fill folder. they are rather accurate. In Pearl or blue you have to set the setting to “raster.”
It’s for the pearl laser using coreldraw
As you know, the vector or cutting lines have to be hairline thin. Anything else the software classifies it as raster or engraving. So when you go to the print folder to the right of the printer name there is a dot circle, almost smack in the middle of the page. Click on it and will give you the folder for the laser settings. Depending on the color (most people use black) on the left click on the circle until you get to raster, if you dont have hairline lines, the rast/vector option will work too. To the right of that click on the line for the power/speed setting. Set those in the sliding graph it gives you below. When finished dont forget to click on the “set” square otherwise it will not set your options. 600 DPI is the default standard for most engravings. For glass it varies. In the bottom right you have the quality (line spacing) usually the middle is OK. You should be good to go after this. If you see me when im there, get with me and ill explain all the options better.
