Also, since James and others asked about why you may or may not want to run Home Assistant in a virtual machine, a few folks including me described some of the pros/cons we encountered doing that in this thread:

Next time (12/16), we’ll pick up where we left off! I’ll bring the mini-wall-frame back and have more dumb switches and things installed, so we can replace them with Z-Wave smart switches during the meeting (preferably folks who haven’t done it before can try it out). Then we’ll set up the Home Assistant Green and add the smart switches. After that, anyone can try controlling these by running Home Assistant as an app on their phone or in a web browser.
