Can you believe Home Tinkering has already been going for a YEAR? We started up in August last year, and the next meeting will be this Tuesday, August 18th at 7pm. This month, Valerie and I have been working on rebuilding our Home Assistant setup from scratch, using a Home Assistant Green and ZWA-2 antenna for Z-wave in place of a virtual machine running on an old laptop with an Aeotec USB stick for Z-wave. The top priority was making sure backup & restore worked reliably, and we learned some good lessons along the way to share with the group. We also tried some new Z-wave dimmer switches from Zooz, and can talk about the pros/cons of these vs. the GE/Jasco ones we demoed in a previous meeting.
