Cool! Nicely done
Looks great great Alex!
Nice dog! Just kidding turned out great!
very cool!
Laser work is all done! Learned a whole lot and much more room for improvement. Thank you for all the help!
Overall the Fill function was much lighter compared to the Dithering. I ran the Dithering(image) at 20 speed and 4% power, the test piece came out great but I increased the image levels last minute and lost a lot of the medium shades. The Fill was at 100/5 which took out about 0.5 mm of material away. The Beech was way darker with the same setting compared to the Maple. The alignment was the most tricky part of the process, I had to square the piece and must’ve run Frame over a dozen times before starting.
After engraving it had a lot of residue in the wood which I had to clean off with a damp towel and scouring pads. I applied two layers of leensy oil(I didn’t let it soak in the oil with the first layer), it brought out a bigger contrast between the two woods(Beech & Maple).
There are a few minor things still left to do on it: fill in the gaps with wood filler, a couple of coats of spray-on lacquer over the engravings, add a cork rubber pad on one of the hitting surface, finally attach a string(leather?) on the handle.
Congratulations Alex, it looks awesome! There are few things better than conceptualizing an idea and bringing it to fruition while simultaneously building a team to assist you. I cannot wait to see how you implement these new skills into your next project.
Whattt? You’re not doing the sides? Lol! Im sure the photos dont do justice to your project. Keep burning wood!
