Help Making a Japanese Furniture Peg

Hi there friends,

I have Japanese lectern (small stand to hold papers and notes when giving a speech from a seated position). And the crossbar is held in place by four pegs. One of them is lost and I was asked to make a new one. I was wondering if anyone at Asmbly has some knowledge or skills to share with me in this? I have some carving experience so I was going to try and rough the shape out of mahogany with a handsaw then refine the shape with a carving knife. Honestly some hands on help might be good too! If you want to help me please let me know! I have images of the peg but it didn’t let me post it here

Chris

Hey Chris! Now that the pos is live, can you try an image again? If that doesn’t work do you have a link you can share with them?

Here are the images

You could trace the shape of the peg onto new wood the thickness of the peg and cut it out on the bandsaw. If you want to be fancy and over engineer it you could get an SVG of the peg with something like https://www.tooltrace.ai and cut it out using the shaper origin.
