Exciting update!
This week, Asmbly entered in a competition put on by re:3D to win a Gigabot 4 large scale 3D printer. The build volume on this printer is a massive 600mm cube, nearly 4 times the build volume of the XL.
Part of our application for this printer included a 3 min video and one of their factors in determining the winner is who gets the most likes on the video.
The videos went live on their YouTube channel today. Here’s our submission:
If you want to see this machine at Asmbly, we need your help to win!
- Like our submission on YouTube from every Google identity you have
- Share it on any platform you use and ask everyone you know to do the same! If you feel so inclined, they’ve asked us to use the image they created above in social posts (sharing the video is the most important part though!).
Here’s some text they provided that can be used:
Asmbly Makerspace entered this year’s #Gigaprize! For every 100 printers sold, re:3D donates a Gigabot 4 large-format industrial 3D printer to someone committed to doing good in their community. My organization has entered the contest this year to try to win a Gigabot to support our work and mission. Please visit re:3D’s Youtube channel to view and like our video. The number of views and likes will factor into our final score!

This would not have been possible without some key volunteers
Huge thank you to these influential folks that really made this happen:
- @Tagogi — our Filament 3DP Instructor who works at re3D and tipped us off, encouraged us to apply, and kept us in the know on deadlines and crucial info
- @aneel — our 3DP Lead who jumped in right away working on application info to submit and made sure we got all the footage we needed
- @OctopusDream — our Resin 3DP Instructor and Outreach Coordinator who rallied on storyboarding for the video
- @JohnWickham — our Electronics Lead who shared ideas and support throughout the process to help strengthen our application
- @torchedguitar — my husband and partner in building who filmed a ton of footage that I used to cut this together
