Glaze Shelf Metamorphosis

House dip glaze runs off at cone 6, or has so far in it’s current format. Celedon and others lose color at Cone 6. Stoneware glaze does not reach color UNTIL Cone 6. Our options are to work with a little bit of complexity on the shelves, or set a SINGLE STANDARD CONE with no flexibility or options. For those that want more specific data, you are free to come in when kiln ops is working to collect that specific data. I am keen to work with folks on doing specialty glazes. I’ve even been pre-programming for some of the more bespoke glazes people have been arriving with. Our standard glaze fire is a Cone 5 medium speed with a 10 minute soak. Our Cone 6 and Cone 04 are also medium speed with a ten minute soak. Slow speed is reserved for for LARGE SCULPTURAL WORKS. Fast speed almost always has issues with cloudiness or incomplete flow. Our glaze class and the syllabus on the glaze shelf are developed with the peculiar idiosyncrasies of our kilns.
