This was bound to happen sooner or later, so here we go. No low fire clays can go into our standard cone five glaze fire. Our bottom glaze shelf is designated for raku/low fire clay. The work that slumped touched an element in the kiln while firing and set off it’s safety procedure, shutting down the kiln. The kiln will be fine. I’ll make our shelf sign louder. We are happy to fire low fire, and in fact love low fire glazes. We just gotta know. Out side of tasting each one, I have no way of knowing. Addendum: Yes, raku is capable of mid-high fire. I do like a designation of this, however.
