Getting extremely long engraving times on Tarkin. Help!

I have begun using the engraver on Tarkin but I am getting 3 hour engrave times on simple engravings. I am going just off of a fill on illustrator and wondering if I need to do something different. I never had trouble engraving on Red or Blue and figured the Tarkin would be great at engraving too.

I have played with the settings on lightburn and even turned my image into a bit map but that is not working. What am I doing wrong? Where are the Tarkin engraving masters~

That’s a long engraving. Did you check the numer of passes, and the line spacing?

What mode is “engraving”, specifically?

Are you talking about rastering? What settings did you enter?

Engraving in the same manner that we did with big red. Using illustrator, and having a shape with a fill. The machine “engraves” the filled vector. I played with all sorts of settings. Definitely checked the number of passes and the line spacing.

Others in the space also mentioned that they had not been able to engrave on Tarkin as well/efficiently as on other machines in the space.

OK, Fill then. Both graphics and Fill use rastering, but they’re quite different implementations.

I’m not aware of any problem with the Fill, it performs quite well and I can’t think of any performance “quirks”. It take awhile to carve out large areas.

One thing that comes to mind is you can set a layer’s Fill to handle all shapes are once, or individually. So in the first case, if I have a 1" wide rectangle on the left of the bed and one on the right, it’s going to take a very long time because it has to traverse the entire bed to get to the small feature on the other side. With individual fill, it’ll just do the one on the left then transit to the one on the right.

However, filled shapes near each other can be more efficient to handle all at once, since it doesn’t have to brake to a stop and reverse direction twice for the space between the shapes on every line they share. And there may be many shapes that will be combined.
