I’m excited to announce that we are partnering with St. David’s Medical Center in Round Rock to host a Stop the Bleed class that is completely free for the Asmbly community!
Stop the Bleed teaches critical life-saving skills to lay people so they can act quickly in response to an emergency. Bleeding (or hemorrhage) is the leading cause of preventable death in a trauma, and this frequently is due to the severe amount of blood loss before EMS arrives. Bystanders can save a life by controlling the bleed until healthcare professionals arrive.
This FREE 2-hour class is taught by an expert nurse from the Level II Trauma Center at St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center. Participants will be educated on recognizing life-threatening bleeding, as well as skills such as wound packing, tourniquet application, and chest seals.
This is great knowledge to have not only in the workshop but in day-to-day life. Accidents can happen all the time and having some exposure to dealing with them in a controlled environment is something you’ll keep with you for ages.
I’ve been planning to do another but haven’t set a date yet. I’ll check with our contact at St. david’s and see if she is available in the next couple of months for a round 2!
We are hosting our Friend Kristen Hullum from St. David’s Medical Center for another free Stop the Bleed class on Saturday, April 25th from 10am - 12pm. While the class is completely free, we are asking that seats are reserved through Neon so we don’t overbook. Please click HERE to register.
