Final Architectural Model

I’ve posted a few times about the architectural model work I was doing for my firm — the first one is done! While not the hardest project in technicality, it was my first go at it and it needed to be Architect level of precise.

Extra special thanks to @ewei and @EricP for help!

Also this is where I got the tiny metal cars and trains after a lot of searching, should anyone be looking for some detailed casts at various scales in the future.

That came out really well, especially for your first model. I’d love to learn more about your process for this, perhaps we could convince you to do a presentation sometime.

I agree with James, in that I would love to hear your “Making of ” presentation.

Sure thing! Though this thing is heavy and set in place now, it might be a photos-only presentation at this point.

Also to be fair, we hired Evan to make the oak frame from plans and laser cut the flat pieces while I was still learning.

Very fine work, Molly. I have seen a lot of these in my life, and your fit and finish are top notch.

nice work. are you able to say which firm, what building and/or location?

Amazing work Molly, and those who helped! This would be a pretty sweet project to share at our Maker Showcase if you are interested! Let me know if you are and we can discuss further!

This was a study and model for a tower in Miami that ended up not getting built. I work for Rhode Partners located in downtown Austin.

Unfortunately it’s too unwieldy and fragile to take off-site at this point! This is a semi-permanent display in our office lobby so it’ll stay put. I’m happy to give a presentation showing photos and process, however, if you think the impact would still be worth it.
