Filament and finished prints

Hi folks! We have quite a backlog of filament and prints accumulating on the table. So it seems like a good time to review our print and storage policies:

  • We don’t have general filament storage - just the finished print table. That table has a 7 day storage policy the same as the rest of Asmbly!
  • Label your spools! Or, label the box by the printer that the filament goes in. That way when the next user moves your print to the table, we can tell whose it is!
  • Unlabeled spools will go into the ‘Up for Grabs’ filament bin below the table much sooner.
  • Labeled spools will go into the ‘Up for Grabs’ filament bin too - if left too long.

There are a few piles of prints and spools that have been on the table for at least 3 weeks! I plan to clear the table of long-stored items early next week. So please come in and retrieve your items this weekend sometime! If you are traveling this weekend, please message me for an extension.

If you have ideas on reminders, storage tags, or other things we could do to make this better or easier, please let us know as well!

I have generally been tagging filament with the first day I saw it hit the ‘finished’ table, which could be 4-7 days after it actually finished. Then, applying a grace period of 2 weeks before moving them to the Up For Grabs bin. There are several more that hit their 2-week mark today, and have been moved to up for grabs.

So if you come in and find your filament moved, know that you are extremely late.
