Hola!
I have a friend who runs the Weaponized Plastic Fighting League. His philosophy is simple: fighting robots are cool. Destroying expensive electronics while doing it is not.
This is just like the BattleBots you’ve seen on TV, but way more accessible. The idea is to build “robots” out of plastic, cardboard, PVC pipe, or whatever you can get your hands on, just no metal or other super strong materials. I say “robots” loosely because most of them are radio controlled and not autonomous at all. Some weirdos like me experiment with more creative control methods, which tend to be wildly inefficient but way more fun. The goal is affordable, simple, chaotic fun with just enough destruction to make it exciting.
I was wondering if anyone here would be interested in participating or maybe just building one for the fun of it. I will start working on mine in the next month or so, but I feel like I used all my fun and creative ideas last year, so even a brainstorming session with anyone interested would be great!
If any of you are interested in participating or just making one but don’t want to go all crazy designing stuff, I’d be happy to share my designs and help you build your very own (but not very good) Weaponized plastic robot ![]()
Don’t take this too seriously; we are all in for the fun of it. Last year I showed up with a cardboard robot originally built in 2017, controlled in one of the worst ways imaginable for this particular task: a democracy.
