Our last field trip of the year will be to Austin 3D Printing Supply & Essentium! This is a great new business in town offering a wide variety of 3D printing materials for purchase locally and they make their filaments right here. Ryan, the VP, will be giving us a tour of their factory and answering all your burning 3D printing questions.
Join us this afternoon for a tour of Austin 3DP Supply + Essentium! We will meet in the Austin 3DPS Store at 3:00 pm and we can go from there. I look forward to seeing you there!
Thanks to everyone who was able to make it out to the field trip yesterday at Austin 3DP Supply and Essentium! This was an awesome tour where we got to learn more about materials and machines from the filament making process to their newest 3d printer model that hasn’t been released to the public yet. They work to develop all sorts of materials, parts, and 3dp machinery, and have a retail showroom that they opened in October. It’s definitely worth checking out if you weren’t able to make it yesterday! Please see attached photos. We look forward to continuing to collaborate with Austin 3dp Supply + Essentium!
One of the most important facts we learned is that moisture levels in the filament are critical to the outcome of a print. The filament should be DRY as possible. To that end they keep their filament in a humidity controlled enclosure. Absent that, putting the roll into a vacuum bag helps.
We are looking into the possibility of them offering discounts on their products to ASMBLY members, so stay tuned!
