All,
First, my condolences or congratulations, depending on who you wanted to win the Super Bowl. I always love picturing myself down on the field, truly “with” them—until about a second later when I grab a Modelo and remember where I actually am.
Back to it—we had a terrific CNC SIG event a little over a week ago. It was a wonderful gathering where we discussed the new controller, the CNC Saloon, and touched on the Shaper Origin.
The good news: no recertification will be required for the CNC with the new controller. Even better, we’ll soon have a true 4th axis for the rotary. This means you won’t always have to spin the workpiece—you’ll be able to switch between spinning and regular cutting within the same job. @jamesfreeman and @bwatt are working on this and will update us when they’re closer to finalizing it.
In the CNC Saloon (which is separate from this SIG), @taylor.gates spoke about the benefits of starting with zero CNC knowledge and learning from pros like @SteveW and James. They made a maze board—or whatever it’s called—but it looks cool.
@TravisGood highlighted the Shaper Origin, a tool taught by the always-super-happy-and-tremendously-young-looking Tommy. It’s perfect for precise cuts when you don’t need a full-blown CNC. Think of it as a handheld router that doesn’t mess up when you want a straight line or curve.
That’s all for this meeting. Our next meeting is Sunday, March 2nd at 12:30 PM. Looking forward to seeing y’all there! And to all the lovebirds out there—Valentine’s Day is coming up! Some people, like James, need to show India some appreciation for how amazing she is—especially for supporting James and all the incredible work he’s done for the expansion over the past several months!
