Was just trying to cut some rectangles out of some 3/4 MDF. I’ve done this a few times successfully. This time, just a few seconds into the cut, it stopped (made a sound) and i killed the job. The controller doesn’t show an error. The box underneath is flashing “ot” – i think. it’s an LED message, but maybe it’s a red herring.
Anyway, at this point my X-Y-Z are lost. I reset them and run it and it gets a little further, then same kind of stop.
Googling says maybe the spindle is overheating. If that is the case, then i don’t think it’s from the job since it only just started.
“OT” might be “overtemperature.” Just a guess. If so, definitely a red flag.
A good thing to check every time we use the CNC is the chiller off to the left. Glance at the sight glass to make sure it has water in it. Sounds like it’s run dry.
There’s usually a bottle of distilled water sitting on top of it you can top up with (and more where that came from in the metal shop).
I did check it and I thought it said full, but it was at an awkward angle. I did confirm the swirling water (in the yellow square up above the spindle) was spinning ;with liquid)…,
Right now the machine will only run at F50 (3,000 rpm.) Turning the spindle on changes the F value on the box to 50. Running a gcode file changes the F value to 50. You can hear it isn’t spinning nearly fast enough.
In the controller the F read setting is set to “ignore F” which I believe is correct, though changing it has no effect. I’m going to report and recommend a red tag. If there’s a backup file for the A11E I would try that.
