Hello!! I’m a newer member, and have only used the space a few times. I made a small planter pot with drain holes and placed on the shelf for bisque firing on May 27. I haven’t received an email, and did stop back in last Saturday (6/8) and didn’t see it on any shelf when I was there. Just curious if that’s a cadence for firing!
Hmm, I am not a kiln steward but I had some greenware that I put on the shelf on 6/7 and I got an email that it was ready to pick up this morning.
I also had some glaze fire pieces I that I put on the shelf on 6/3 I think that were ready this morning as well.
Not sure what the assigned cadences are, but yours must either have been fired and they lost your contact information, or it was put on the wrong shelf or missed somehow. I’d check the shelf again, maybe it was fired yesterday and your info was lost.
That said, I would appreciate it if there was a calendar somewhere so we could be sure not to miss a firing and can know when to expect turnaround! There might already be one and I just haven’t seen it, not sure.
Hi! I’m Perla, the kiln operator. I’m sorry about the confusion. We sent an email to the address we have on file on June 6. I’m not at the studio at the moment, but I’d be happy to help you locate your piece tomorrow.
We fire pieces as soon as we have at least half a kiln full — so far, that’s been about twice a week.
We attempt to fire three days a week dependent on volume of work, both glaze and bisque. These fires have a 48 hour turn-around. Specialty firings are rather random but available. We use the data on file to contact members. We also file forms for those that do not submit the online forms and attempt to contact them as well. Our policy for holding is two weeks, but I never toss anything. They just end up in a bin for glazing classes. I have not found the planter matching your description. Do you have a makers mark or signature on the work?
