Dust and Wax (Volunteer Opportunity)

Hey Folks! I spent about an hour yesterady doing some detailed dusting and waxing of the cast iron surfaces in the woodshop and figured this would be a great way for someone to get an extra volunteer hour in the future.

This is something that I’d like to get on the books once a week on Mondays. It should require an hour of time.

Why wax?

  • Helps keep surfaces smooth and helps wood glide rather than sticking and needing to be pushed.
  • Prevents dust build-up (note it doesn’t make surfaces immune to dust, so folks still need to wipe and vacuum after usage)
  • Rust Prevention

In addition this would require vacuuming the dust off of and around the surface that tends to be overlooked.

If you’re interested please reach out and I’ll help you get setup.
Looking at Skedda, Wednesday Tuesday’s or Wednesdays seem to be the busiest times, so I’d like to get this going once every Monday.

Hey @Rolo I’d be down to do this, though this Monday (10/7) is no good for me. I could do any other day this week. Feel free to reach out to me on Slack as well if it’s easier

Wonderful! Thank you @Vern . I’ll reach out to you on slack.

This is still open for anyone that wants to help with this either as a backup, just for knowledge, or its also very possible to add another day in the week. With all the use these tools get there’s plenty of room for a deep dust and wax to happen more.
