The two deburring wheels in the metal shop are for just that: deburring and only deburring. Someone destroyed one of those wheels by grinding something on it, leaving a deep groove.
In taking with some people I’ve realized we may have an education problem with this, which we will address. But I am still distressed by the lack of sense shown here. If you are starting to wear a groove into something that didn’t have a groove before, @#%&ing STOP! This would have been totally unacceptable on any type of wheel. The belt sander or an angle grinder are the proper tools for significant material removal.
