I had the pleasure of having this couple in my Leather Tooling Class as they celebrated a birthday with date. I get to meet the coolest people at Asmbly!o
Maybe Asmbly should look into expanding this “date/social” events where people spend two or three hours and walk away with something they made. I know a few months back I made $300 giving a couple a class in how to make a pen. The husband had been trying to get his wife into woodworking (he has his own shop) for a long time. So I charged $500 thinking I would be turned down (I really did not want to go all the way by Steiner Ranch). Anyway, $100 for a meal, while they were eating, I covered the basics. $100 for pen kits and supplies. Walked away with $300 and three and a half hours wasted of my life. So there is money in it if done correctly. Probably ceramics, leathercraft, and making a pen could be some candidates. Pre-cut wood working projects could work too.
Thank you so much for the lovely evening, Lori!
This was a perfect birthday gift/date for us. We had a lot of fun working on our bracelets with you and have been telling all our friends about it since ![]()
I’m pretty sure Kaitlyn will be wearing her bracelet all the time, while mine turned into a great gift for a friend of ours who is in love with my dog, so that’s even better!
Thank you for putting this workshop together!
I think date-oriented workshops would be a great idea, not just for the date and skills acquired, but the idea of meeting other couples with similar interests sounds pretty cool.
Count me in if you want to brainstorm some ideas!
@AJStow Tagging for reference.
Very cool to see! We already do private classes, and have hosted them for couples looking for a date night in the past. It would be pretty straightforward for us to create a landing page on the website that has some specific class options that would make great date nights, and a streamlined way to request a date night session. I’ll add this to the Programs Roadmap for 2026!
About 40% of the students I’ve had for ceramics are couples. Good idea!
Awe, thanks! ![]()
I’m looking forward to hanging out with you two when you get back. Safe travels!
