Cutting foam on laser cutters

I inquired about cutting foam on a laser cutter. Here is what I found.

Can polyurethane foam be laser cut?
Foams made of polyester (PES), polyethylene (PE), or polyurethane (PUR) are well suited for laser cutting , laser engraving, and laser marking

Kinda. How thick?

Big long complicated thing to explain, but laser cutting foam is fundamentally different than other materials regardless of power, it uses another mode of cutting. It’s surprisingly limited in depth, but 13mm crosslinked polyethylene was fine except I was having a little trouble at the very bottom. Turned out great though.

What type of foam are you specifically looking at ?

This type of material in particular would cut better with a 4" lens- I’m going to try one of these lenses out soon.

But, mostly yes, I’d like to be there to see what it’s doing though and establish settings, try to message me about a time. I live nearby it’s easy to drop in.
