Cold Saw Coolant: Keep at Maximum

We just found that someone had adjusted the quarter turn valve on the Cold Saw to limit coolant flow. Do not ever do that! The Cold Saw is meant to be run with maximum coolant flow.

The coolant is what keeps the Cold Saw cold; the blade will wear rapidly or break without proper coolant flow.

It appears whoever has been doing this isn’t on Discourse, because this was turned down again.

If you use the Cold Saw, check that the quarter turn valve on the feed tube is on full. If it is not, turn it on full, and report the incident.

If it happens again, we will check the cameras and find out who is doing this, and they will be suspended. We are not fooling around about someone doing something so potentially destructive to the machine.

Not to make more work for anyone. Could we 3D print a cover that zipties over it discouraging this behavior?

I’m thinking maybe we can remove the valve altogether.
