All,
Here is the CNC Recap for 7/6. The recorded Zoom link will be added shortly.
- Brian built a stool so he can stand up and see what’s going on while he’s using Tarkin!
- Christopher remodeled the outside of his home and shared the process with us. It took about a year and it was obvious he was smiling ear-to-ear after having completed it! Can you believe he designed the exterior of his home like this, using the CNC. Freaking amazing! This was an astonishing accomplishment and it was thrilling to see all his hard work pay off.
- Kenneth shared with us a gear setup he designed and built on the Metal CNC (the Tormach).
- Austin made some Mother’s Day and Father’s Day presents.
- Steve shared with us the color core HDPE he cut. Pretty kewl!
Steve also reminded us of places where to buy acrylic (or where he’s had good results from): Houston Arcylic
And, here’s a recommendation of where to buy bits with good reviews from members: cicworkshop.com
I truly enjoyed the CNC meeting this month, and I want to thank all members who joined us today. Next month the theme is “Do Something New.” This means try something you haven’t done before, and let us know how it went! It’s the most fun if you can bring a project you’ve been working on so we can see how you’re designing, setting up the machine (toolpathing), and letting her rip! That’s why these meetings are so helpful. You don’t have to iterate through every single mistake, especially when it’s likely that one of your fellow makers has run into the same issue. Let’s not tackle the same problems–let’s tackle new ones. It makes life more fun.
Looking forward to seeing everyone again next month on Sunday, August 3rd, at 12:30pm, immediately after the Laser SIG. The Laser SIG starts at 11am, and I’d recommend you check it out if you’re wanting a SIG-a-thon Sunday.
Be curious.
