Howdy Potters,
I know what you’re thinking — two updates in one month? What a time to be alive.
Ceramics Volunteer Day Change
Starting in June, our monthly Ceramics Volunteer Day will move from the first Tuesday to the first Thursday of the month. I strongly encourage you to participate if you’re able — it’s a great opportunity to contribute to the space while building connections with fellow members! Our next Ceramics Volunteer Day is June 4, 2026, 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.
Clear Dip Glaze Restocked
Nick has mixed up a fresh batch of our clear dipping glaze — it’s fully stocked and ready for all your clear glaze dipping needs. Thank you to the members who used the Problem Report QR codes to flag that it was running low! If you ever notice we’re short on a glaze or any consumable, please report it.
Clay Purchasing Station Move
We’ve moved things around a bit, and you can now find the clay purchasing station in the entryway of the Ceramics studio. Volunteers — please be mindful when restocking shelves, as the Cinco Blanco and Cone 5 Porcelain look quite similar in the bag.
Temporary Drying Storage Shelf
A cuple of weeks ago I announced the creation of a temporary drying storage shelf for members actively working in the studio — as a refresher:
I’ve added a temporary drying shelf near the wheels to help reduce the need to book a table while you’re throwing. You’re welcome to store pieces thrown during your active booking on this shelf.
Important: All pieces must be moved to your personal member shelf before you leave. Any work left behind will be considered abandoned and discarded. As always, please be mindful of others’ work and be kind and respectful when sharing the space.
Since the shelf was implemented, I have had to discard a few pieces — they remained on the shelf for multiple days without being moved. Just a reminder that this shelf is intended for use while you’re actively working in the studio.
The shelving unit has also been relocated to create a better path through the studio — you’ll now find it next to the clay extruder. We’re also using it to store wareboards, bats, and other items to make them a bit easier for members to access.
As always, a big thank you to everyone who has volunteered and helped make the space what it is. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out — and I hope to see y’all at June’s Ceramics Volunteer Day!
Stanton
