Ceramics Update: new storage, and a reminder about studio upkeep

Howdy Potters,

I’ve added some new storage around the studio to make cleanup easier:

  • By both sinks: Wire baskets are now in place for storing rinsed sponges — please use these to dry your sponges going forward. You’ll also find trash bags and clay slop bags in the baskets, for replacing the trash and slop buckets once they’re full.
  • By the throwing sink: Diamond pads, diamond bat, and chucks are now on the shelf alongside it.
  • Left of the throwing sink: A new shelf holds paper towels — if a dispenser runs dry, please refill it from here.

  • By the glazing sink: Water spray bottles, newspaper, and cleaning supplies are on the shelves there.

A reminder on shared responsibility: as an Asmbly member, you’ve committed to helping maintain this space. If you fill a trash bag or slop bucket, grab a partner and take it out to the dumpster. If you use it, please help take care of it.

I’ll also note that the studio was left in a tough state this morning, so a few asks going forward:

  • Clean up thoroughly after every session — and a little extra wouldn’t hurt.
  • Mop up any spills or clay debris on the floor.
  • If you use the temporary drying shelf, wipe it down before you leave.
  • Wipe down any tabletops you’ve used.
  • Clean up clay around the wheels and the throwing support table.
  • Do not leave anything to dry in the sinks, put everything away every time

Thanks for helping keep the studio clean, happy, and healthy!
